Is Jessie Brawl Stars Live Wallpaper Gameograf safe?
This is a Brawl Stars wallpaper extension that puts a Jessie live wallpaper and a weather widget on your New Tab page. It declares no special permissions and no host permissions, so as far as the manifest shows it cannot read your cookies, watch your browsing, or change your search engine. It does make network requests, which is how a live wallpaper and a weather readout get their content.
The six findings are all the same kind of thing, flagged fetch calls in the extension's own scripts. One is NET-FETCH-js/weather.js-49, a request from the weather module at line 49. Others sit in js/background.js and js/popup.js where the wallpaper images would be loaded. If one of those calls went to a strange host that tracked you or redirected your searches, that would be a real problem. The scan recorded no endpoints at all and no suspicious domains, so there is nothing of that kind to point at.
What the scanner tripped on is the fetch call itself. It flags any network request as a medium-severity item, and a wallpaper extension that updates images and shows weather is going to make several. With no malware signature, no obfuscation, no code-smell match and no known-bad domain anywhere in the scan, there is no evidence of the extension doing something other than what its description says.

Evidence context: threat category none; evidence quality weak.
Six network findings and nothing else is a thin case, and that is the whole picture here. The scan returned no malware signatures, no IoC matches, no obfuscation detections, no code-smell hits, no dependency or secret findings. What came back is six medium-severity fetch detections: js/background.js at lines 63, 82 and 96, js/popup.js at line 39, js/sidePanel.js at line 362, and js/weather.js at line 49.
Read the file names together and the architecture is ordinary for this category. A wallpaper extension has to pull the live wallpaper image set from somewhere, which is what js/background.js and js/popup.js most plausibly do. js/weather.js at line 49 is a weather widget calling a weather service. js/sidePanel.js at line 362 is the same class of call in the side panel surface. None of these detections is paired with an unusual domain, because the scan recorded no network endpoints at all. The IoC extractor returned zero entries, which for a wallpaper extension is the expected result: there is no blocklist to inflate the count and no hidden redirect host to surface.
The extension declares no permissions and no host permissions. That cuts both ways. It means nothing here can read cookies, intercept requests, or rewrite the address bar, which rules out the credential-theft and browser-hijack patterns outright. It also means the manifest extraction likely did not capture everything, since cross-origin fetches for weather data normally require a host permission. Treat the empty permission list as a limit on what the scan could see rather than proof of a minimal footprint.
The strongest counterargument is that New Tab replacements are exactly where monetization schemes live. A wallpaper extension that ships a side panel and a weather module, published under an email address rather than a company name, has the shape of an ad-supported product. That framing is fair, and the developer field being [email protected] rather than a brand name is worth noting. But monetization by itself is not one of the threats we score, and none of the specific machinery is present. There is no custom search domain, no URL template construction, no history manipulation, and no non-generic suspicious host. This publisher has a track record of game-themed wallpaper extensions, which makes a Brawl Stars wallpaper with a weather widget consistent rather than deceptive. The description matches the name, the name matches a real game character, and there is no popular extension being mimicked.
What would change this verdict: the actual fetch destinations, and a manifest showing which page the New Tab override points to. Either could be pulled from a runtime capture. Until then, the finding set is what routine code looks like when a scanner flags every call site.
Key Reasons
- All six findings are generic fetch-call detections in js/background.js, js/popup.js, js/sidePanel.js and js/weather.js, with no endpoint or domain recorded for any of them.
- Zero malware-signature, IoC, obfuscation, code-smell, dependency and secret findings across the entire scan.
- No custom search domain, URL template construction or redirect host appears anywhere, which is the usual footprint of a New Tab hijacker.
- The extension declares no permissions and no host permissions, so cookie, request-interception and address-bar abuse are out of reach.
- Description, name and publisher ([email protected], a game wallpaper studio) are consistent with the stated function, with no popular extension being impersonated.
False Positive Considerations
- NET-FETCH rules fire on any call site, so an image loader and a weather widget each generate one
- No IoC or blocklist content in the bundle, so there was nothing for the extractor to inflate
- Empty permission and host-permission extraction suggests manifest parsing was partial, not that behavior is minimal
